YSL Loveshine Lipstick

Coined as a “Jelly juice lipstick,” the new Loveshine series has been created with fruit oil to moisturize and fig oil to condition. YSL modernized the cult classic lipsticks with an advanced formula and refined packaging. Melting on contact, the gloss sticks drench the lips with a weightless shine. The Loveshine series consists of twenty new shades.

Day of LOVESHINE

YSL pulled out all the stops to commemorate the Loveshine launch. The concept of the pop-up event, “YSL LOVESHINE FACTORY,” was — as the name suggests — a factory where robots created lipsticks. Creative art fixtures and whimsical photo ops brought the aesthetic to life. Upon entering the venue, A-listers were welcomed by a glitzy, pink mirror facade that spelled, “YSL LOVESHINE.” One of the attractions was an immersive space of expanding mirrors called the “Infinity Mirror Box.” Continuing the whimsical theme, lipstick chess, crane games and candies decorated the venue.

As it turned to night, global A-listers explored Paris’ hottest new spot: “YSL LOVESHINE CLUB.” Black and pink neon lights coated the evening in the color of the lipstick series and the brand’s color. YSL’s it crew gathered to celebrate the birth of the Loveshine lipsticks.

British singer Dua Lipa, minted as the brand’s global makeup ambassador and face of the new product, mingled with the biggest APAC names all night. NewJeansDanielle, Number_i’s Sho Hirano, and Okinawan model Yu Yamada were in attendance, as well as Japanese influencers Michi and Emma. Keeping with the theme, the event featured the trendiest of DJs such as MYGAL, Alex Chapman, and Chloé Caillet.

As of now, the celebrations have only just gotten started. Scheduled for early Summer, YSL Japan anticipates commercial material starring Sana of K-pop group TWICE. The vocalist’s charm effortlessly suits the high-shine, luxury lipstick launch.

“The pink packaging, the fresh shine, and the sheer color are all so cute that I fell in love with them. it has become my favorite lipstick,” Sana said of YSL’s newest product. “No matter how many times I reapplied it for photo shoots, it remained moisturized and I felt it had a caring effect. I would like to use it every day from now on.”

To get Sana’s look, try out the YSL Loveshine Lipstick in shade 209 Pink Desire. Sparkling gold pearl pigment floats in the translucent strawberry gloss stick for a perfect Summer MLBB (my lips but better). Kiss cherry cola lips goodbye because tanghulu lips are going to become your new favorite lip trend. Playful and bright, tanghulu lips are K-beauty’s newest way to get a saturated glossy pout. The beauty trend initially blew up on social media and now, it’s shaping to become the perfect makeup style for the spring season.

Due to Y2K’s grip on beauty and fashion, glossy lips have shape-shifted into many different micro-trends. A popular Asian candy inspires the latest trend, but that doesn’t mean it’s only spotted in Asian countries. The trend has reached global status.

But First Things First, What is Tanghulu?

ICYMI, tanghulu has taken the crown as social media’s favorite candy. Tanghulu originated in China and traditionally consists of skewered fruit dipped in a hard candy cover. The candy shell encases the fruit for optimum shine and a crunch factor. Strawberries, grapes, and oranges are commonly used for this sweet snack, but other fruits are also popular.

In 2023, the affinity for the candy even started a tanghulu craze in South Korea. As kids and teenagers discovered it on social media, tanghulu shops multiplied around the country. Surpassing East Asian waters, the candy has gone international and can be found worldwide now.

The Guide to Tanghulu Lips

Asian makeup artists took glossy lips up a notch, kickstarting the tanghulu lip trend. The look channels the bright fruity color of tanghulu and mimicks the ultra-reflective candy coating. Tanghulu lips are bright and saturated, just like fresh fruit, but also ultra shiny like the candy shell covering the fruit skewer. The best thing about this lip trend? It only takes three steps: hydrate, tint, and shine.

The first step is to apply a generous layer of lip balm and wait five to ten minutes. Coating the lips with a healthy layer of moisture assures a smooth, flake-free base. The lip balm keeps the lips hydrated, tackling any surface-level dry patches the longer it stays on. Though sometimes overlooked, this step is pivotal because it reduces the need to retouch your lip makeup throughout the day.

After hydrating the lips, wipe off the lip balm and apply a lip tint or lipstick. Make sure to wipe off the lip balm thoroughly so the colored lip product properly adheres to the lips. Pro tip: When wiping off the lip balm, use a damp hand towel. The texture of the hand towel will gently exfoliate the lips without irritating them.

Finally, create the tanghulu candy coating, applying a generous amount of lip gloss or lip oil. Concentrate the shine on the center of the upper and lower lip for a volumized pout. For a true tanghulu appearance, clear glosses without pearl pigment work the best.

The Stars and Tanghulu Lips

Let’s rewind for a second. Remember, we mentioned the tanghulu trend has gone global? This lip look is now making waves among the biggest stars across the world. Colombian sensation Karol G, Thai actress Tu Tontawan and Hindi star Disha Patani are among the long list of celebrities pioneering juicy tanghulu-style lips. However, the internet’s favorite example is perhaps K-pop star Wonyoung — member of IVE.

As one of South Korea’s trendsetters, Wonyoung’s beauty and fashion choices often make headlines. Her signature glossy lips á la tanghulu, which she has championed since her debut, are no exception. With the resurgence of Y2K and the booming popularity of the tanghulu trend, her lip look — a cool-toned lip tint with a few swipes of clear lip gloss — has become widely recreated.

The K-pop icon, who is a brand ambassador for several beauty brands, has proved her impact by prompting a slew of tutorials replicating her lip makeup. In late 2023, for example, the idol popularized the rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in Bare Grape and Glasting Water Gloss in Meteor Track on social media, where users dubbed the combination as “Wonyoung’s Lip Combo.”

Italian label Gucci has once again tapped NewJeans’ Hanni to collaborate — this time, the singer joins the Gucci Beauty team as an official global ambassador. On March 28, the brand took to Instagram to announce the new partnership and anticipate the release of a new lip product.

Hanni for Gucci Beauty

On a series of Instagram posts, Gucci Beauty announced Hanni, member of K-pop group NewJeans, as a Global Brand Ambassador. “A beautiful match. Hanni, the latest Global Brand Ambassador to join Gucci Beauty, embodies the core values of the House with her authenticity, confidence, and charisma,” the brand wrote in one of the posts.

In addition to the announcement, Gucci Beauty shared a video of Hanni teasing the release of the Rouge à Lèvres Mat lipstick 509 Rosso Ancora. The red lip shade was originally introduced for Creative Director Sabato De Sarno’s first fashion show and is considered the House’s new signature red shade.

Hanni has been styled in Gucci products since her debut with NewJeans in July 2022. Just three months later, Gucci welcomed her as a global ambassador. Following the appointment, Hanni has made numerous eye-catching appearances at the label’s Fashion Week shows and has fronted product campaigns.

All Eyes on Hanni

In recent years, Hanni has successfully captured the attention of renowned brands worldwide. The idol’s collaborations with Gucci have celebrated the label’s distinct identity, seamlessly integrating Hanni’s youthful appeal with Gucci’s DNA.

In the past, Hanni has worked with various fashion and beauty brands, both independently and as a member of NewJeans. The “Super Shy” singer’s impressive brand portfolio includes names such as Armani Beauty, UGG and OLens, among other popular names.

The sightings in New York, London, Milan and Paris provided ample inspiration for this year’s beauty landscape. As fashion shows unfolded and celebrities made front-row and runway cameos, we identified recurrent styles and budding trends. The verdict? Men’s beauty is borrowing influence from bygone eras. Undercuts, glass skin, mullets, and male perms have received a dose of modernity to meet the high-gloss standards of the present.

Below, EnVi rounds up the top men’s beauty trends to look out for in 2024 — as seen on the runways and front rows of Fashion Week.

Undercuts

The undercut is back and ready to stay in 2024. Reigning as the antithesis of the ultra-relaxed mullet, this haircut is a modern and clean style for gentlemen. This year’s rendition, however, is characterized by a natural fade and piecey bangs

Undercuts were predominant on the front rows of Men’s Fall Winter 2024 Fashion Week. Take as an example Thai actor Jiratchapong Srisang, also known as Force. The star dipped his toes into this new trend with geometric bangs framing the right side of his face. Force kept the sides of his hair cropped short and clean for a modern undercut that complemented a sleek and edgy outfit.

Similarly, South Korean actor Lee Jae-wook tried the look to attend Prada’s FW24 menswear show. The actor delivered the perfect example of an ultra-refined undercut that subtly transitioned from a longer length at the top of the head to a shorter length on the sides. Lee Jae-wook’s take was understated, due to the use of matte pomade to style the hair, but the hairstyle was perfectly suitable for the VIP section.

Meanwhile, on the runways, the Spanish luxury brand LOEWE crafted wild undercuts for its FW24 show. On par with Richard Hawkins’ vibrant artwork, the models’ hairstyles were wild and bold — trimmed clean on the sides with an explosive top section. Untamed and spiked, this hairstyle reinvented the traditional undercut for the most daring and experimental men.

Men’s Perms

Male perms resurfaced in the summer of 2023, going from polarizing to pleasant thanks to global heartthrobs such as K-pop idol Jungkook and actor Timothée Chalamet.

Influenced by the 1980s and early 2000s, the modern male perm is compact, floating between the past and the present, as seen on DSQUARED2’s Fall Winter 2024 runway. The brand displayed a high-fashion fusion of drama and grunge on the runway with tight glossy curls elevating the garments and proving that perms don’t always have to be extravagant and large.

Graphic courtesy of Mal Peterson

Stars also put a spin on the look to attend Fashion Week. Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi, for example, took a two-block haircut with a digital perm to Prada’s front row. Kentaro’s hairstyle embraced waves, volume, and texture, creating a subtle perm and showcasing how Asia is always conquering the next frontier of beauty.

Team EnVi also spotted the hair trend outside of Ulla Johnson’s Fall Winter 2024 show, when model Mathieu Simoneau stepped out in a skater boy-friendly perm. Parted in the middle and grazing his orbital area, Mathieu’s curls pointed in every direction, making the look appear natural and cool.

Mullets

Will 2024 be the year of the mullet? That might be the case based on the celebrity sightings in Milan and Paris. Originally a trend that thrived in the 1980s, the mullet returned at full force on the front rows.

In contrast to the hairstyle of decades past, the modern rendition is laid back in nature. This new look is characterized by front hair tucked or draped just over the ears and longer lengths in the back. Without sharp layers or too much volume, the 2024 mullet carries a lived-in aesthetic.

Graphic courtesy of Mal Peterson

Thai actor Gulf Kanawut, took part in the mullet madness at Men’s Milan Fashion Week. The Gucci brand ambassador opted for a casual mullet brushed over his ears and flared out for a casual appeal.

But Gulf wasn’t the only Thai star rocking the mullet at fashion events. Showing off his trendy red hair, BamBam was impossible to miss at the Louis VuittonFW24 menswear show. The performer made a case for textured mullets with a haircut that was short and blunt in the front and layered and textured in the back. It is worth noting, however, that compared to retro mullets, BamBam’s layered mullet was subtler and retained a distinguishable modern appeal.

Curtain Bangs

It’s 2024, but the beauty industry just can’t let go of the curtain bang. Shaggy, curly, or pin-straight, this post-pandemic favorite comes in all shapes and forms. The ‘90s heartthrob hairstyle infiltrated the runways and street style of Fashion Weeks across the globe. We saw shorter and tighter variations of curtain bangs. However, renditions with dramatic swoops were popular among show attendants.

Ready, Set, Love star Blue Pongtiwat stunned at Coach’s Fall Winter show with a romantic version of the curtain bangs. The Thai actor’s chocolate brown bangs were slightly wavy and bent out to open up his face. A singular strand also floated just above Blue’s eyes for a ‘90s heartthrob effect. The hairstyle was on the shorter side compared to orthodox curtain bangs, however, this gave a mature, leading man spirit to the look. Since this haircut reigns supreme in Asian dramas, it’s no surprise that Blue chose this haircut for his New York Fashion Week appearance.

Graphic courtesy of Mal Peterson

Making his catwalk debut at Concept Korea, MONSTA X’s Shownu made a trend parade out of the runway. Ginger hair, shirtless fashion, and faux jewerly accompanied his pin-straight curtain bangs. in contrast to soft and romantic iterations, Shownu’s geometric fringe stuck to the sides of his head for a modern, sleek look.

The hairstyle was also popular on the streets. Outside LaPointe’s Fall Winter show, Team EnVi got another glimpse of the trend. Influencer Chang Hee Kim’s set of curtain bangs parted down in the middle and curled away from the face. Paired with silver earrings and dramatic shades, the curtain bangs delivered the drama that his stylish look deserved.

Buzz Cuts

Buzz cuts are officially in vogue and ready to take 2024 by its reins. With fashion highlighting 1980s-infused styles, you’d never think that a buzz cut would become a certified staple in men’s beauty trends. However, ultra-short hair makes a statement without the maintenance of a longer-length hairdo. Often linked to rebellion and activism, the haircut has been divisive for quite some time, but 2024 seems to be the year to finally give it a try.

EnVi captured showgoers and models opting for buzz cuts on the streets of New York. Guests who went for minimalist takes often paired the hairstyle with statement accessories like chunky jewelry.

But there were also bolder iterations of the hairstyle. For example, a cotton candy-hued buzz cut appeared outside of AREA’s FW24 show. This singular look showed what New York Fashion Week street style is all about — being a trend daredevil. This trendy show attendant transformed the seemingly simplistic haircut into a piece of art with mint, turquoise, and pink hair dye and we’re saving the look for inspiration!

Glowy Skin

On and off the runways, men’s beauty routines tend to be minimal and quick. That’s perhaps why the latest Fashion Weeks highlighted one look — glowy skin. Despite hair trends causing a frenzy in Paris and Milan, this healthy glass skin look balanced out the galore of hairstyles spotted during Fashion Month.

At Men’s Paris Fashion Week in January, for example, Sunwoo, member of K-pop group The Boyz, changed up his usual beauty repertoire, opting for immaculate and glossy skin. The glass skin finish resulted from hydrating base products, sensible foundation application, and a subtle dab of highlighter. Attending the FW24 AMIRI show, Sunwoo proved that minimal makeup can have a maximalist effect on the front rows.

Graphic courtesy of Mal Peterson

Another celebrity embracing the trend was Christian Yu. The artist, who is also known as DPR Ian, is recognized for trying out the coolest fashion and beauty trends. For Dolce & Gabbana’s FW24 show, Yu put his own spin on glass skin with minimal makeup. The look centered on highlighter placement — the glow focused on the outer parts of the face — to appear natural and barely produced in photos. To wrap up the glam, DPR Ian swapped heavy smokey eye makeup for a soft wash of taupe eyeshadow and champagne shimmer. Combined with tousled locks and a glam-rock-infused aesthetic, his beauty was reminiscent of men’s trends from the 1990s.

Meanwhile, Louis Vuitton championed the glowy skin trend on the runways. Take as an example Felix Lee, who made his catwalk debut at Nicolas Ghesquiére’s 10th anniversary show. The Australian K-pop star strutted down the runway in an icy number paired with glowy base makeup. Felix received the gold standard treatment as celebrity makeup artist, Pat McGrath, was responsible for the beauty look. Pat McGrath’s skin routine added a thin veil of coverage, and let the rapper’s natural freckles peak through. To bestow the look with an ethereal and glowy finish, the high points of his face were accentuated with highlighter. Pearlescent eye makeup and glossy lips completed this standout runway look.

Accessories Galore

Last but not least, one of the keys to 2024 men’s beauty seems to be accessorizing — and staying quirky at it. Cowboy hats, geeky chic glasses and other statement pieces made cameos on and off the runway. Throwing it back to the yeehaw agenda of 2021, cowboy hats are back and better than ever. Record producer and artist, Pharell Williams took the helm of Louis Vuitton in early 2023 and thanks to his history in music and entertainment, he brought new life into the fashion house. For his most recent fashion presentation, the creative director made cowboy hats essential elements of the brand’s Americana extravaganza.

Meanwhile, eyewear remains a popular accessory among the likes of William Gao, who appeared in chunky wayfarer glasses at the Kenzo FW24 show. Reviving the “Clark Kent” aesthetic, the actor stepped out in a pair of nerdy-chic glasses and slicked-back hair.

Graphic courtesy of Mal Peterson

In Milan, Thai star Nattawin Wattanagitiphat — famously known as Apo — also cranked his fashion up a notch for the Ferrari womenswear show. Donning a flaming red outfit, the Thai heartthrob sat front row wearing a pair of cherry red shield frames. As shield sunglasses usually feature acetate arms, this pair’s metallic structure caught the attention of many and was responsible for one of Apo’s most remarkable Fashion Week looks.

As a trendsetter and style icon, K-pop star Johnny Suh also shared some lessons on how to sport accessories to leverage a beauty look. The star has been conquering Fashion Weeks and global events with the latest trends, so his Paris Fashion Week debut was no different. The Chicago-born singer arrived at Acne Studios’ FW24 show in a daring cyberpunk ensemblesans a shirt, of course — paired with a rocker-infused hairstyle. To elevate the bold get-up, a singular Acne Studios Can Puller Earing dangled from his left ear. The chains and design of this statement piece brought a funky element to Johnny’s front-row look and stayed in tune with the silver jewelry revival

Yes, you can never go wrong with the right accessories.

Birr, it’s cold on stage! To celebrate Nicolas Ghesquière’s 10th anniversary as creative director, Louis Vuitton served up the chicest cold-weather fashion and the makeup looks to match. Celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath took charge of the makeup chair for the night, crafting the beauty for the fashion house’s Fall Winter 2024 show. Soft pigment, iridescent highlights and glowy skin created an ethereal look that beauty lovers are still raving about.

Want to know how to recreate the look? Ahead, EnVi breaks down all the products Pat McGrath used to design the glam for Louis Vuitton’s Fall Winter 2024 show. Additionally, Kecia Littman, Global Artistry and Education Manager at Pat McGrath Labs, gives us the scoop on how to put a warm-weather twist onto a glowy look.

Ethereal Complexion

Mixing past and present, Louis Vuitton’s latest show was a journey through Nicolas Ghesquière’s tenure as creative director. In contrast to the glittery fabrics, asymmetric shapes and richly patterned garments, the glam was subtle and minimal. Emulating the no-makeup makeup taking over beauty spaces, the glam design enhanced the models’ natural beauty and accentuated their best features.

In a video shared on Instagram, Team Pat McGrath offered a glimpse of the products used to achieve the subtly radiant look — and yes, you guessed it right, they all come from Pat McGrath Labs.

The first step was layering the biphase Divine Skin: Rose 001 The Essence, which enlivens the skin and revitalizes its natural glow. Then, the Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection The System — consisting of primer, foundation and powder — perfected the skin. The glam team didn’t opt for an unnatural full coverage base. Instead, they highlighted some of the models’ signature features such as Felix’s “too BEAUTIFUL to cover” freckles and Mona Tougaard’s cheekbone mole. This bright, healthy-looking base was the canvas for the next step — glow.

For a spotlight effect, the Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo was dabbed onto the high points of the face. (If you were wondering, that’s why the lights bounced off the models´ cheeks, nose bridge and brow bones as they walked down the runway.) As for blush, the team worked with the Divine Blush: Legendary Glow Colour Balms in Divine Rose and Forbidden Fleur. To give a rosy sculpt to the cheeks, the blush was applied from the ear, down the cheekbone and towards the mouth. Look closely at the pictures below and you’ll know what we’re talking about.

The Glow Continues

The subtle glow extended to the eye and lip makeup. Calculated shimmer placement created a runway-approved appearance. Makeup artists crafted naked, yet glimmering eyes with the Mothership I: Subliminal Palette. Icy pearlescent pigment on the lids and inner corners and a few coats of the inky FetishEyes Mascara finished off the eye makeup.

For the lip look, McGrath reached for a makeup artist staple — clear gloss. The Lip Fetish Sheer Colour Balm, a sheer buildable lip product with a dewy finish, was used for this step. Cohesive yet nondescript, the product gave the lips a hydrated, healthy shine — as seen on Louis Vuitton’s brand ambassador and runway model Felix Lee.

Insider Tips for a Glowy Look

With the spring season fast approaching, glowy everyday makeup is part of our to-try list. Kecia Littman, Global Artistry and Education Manager at Pat McGrath Labs, gives us the ultimate expert tips to achieve and maintain a glossy look with just a few steps.

“To get a gorgeous glowy makeup look, highlight the high points of the face — bridge of the nose, the high planes of the cheeks, the Cupid’s bow, under the eyebrow bone, and inner corner of the eyes,” she explains. “My favorite product that gives you a glow in seconds is the Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo in NUDE. On one side, the nude color has a soft pearlescent shimmer and on the other side, the balm gives you glass-like skin. Combine the two together for the ultimate glow on the go!”

Now, how do we ensure our glowy skin is warm weather-resistant? Littman recommends applying primer only on the T-zone of the face — the forehead, the sides of the nose and the chin. “You don’t need to use primer all over the face, only use it where you need it. You can use a makeup primer that combats shine and minimizes pores. A little goes a long way!” she says. “If you’re using a powder you can apply the same method and only apply powder on the T-zone.”

We’re writing all these tips down!

The Louis Vuitton womenswear show was a night of lavish cold-weather wear, stand-out beauty looks and memorable star cameos on the runway. The makeup artistry at play showed how placement and color choice can elevate the most natural looks. Furthermore, this runway glam proved Pat McGrath’s power as a brand founder and lifelong makeup artist.

The best part? This glam is easy to turn into an everyday makeup look that you can rock all year round to emphasize your best features.

If there’s one thing we can trust Dune star, Zendaya, and her longtime fashion confidant and stylist, Law Roach, is to deliver a fashion serve. The actress attended the 69th Academy Awards as a presenter and absolutely stole the spotlight with a subtle — and smart — tribute to Hollywood.

Hollywood Glamour

As one of the most expected arrivals of the night, Zendaya made a grand entrance in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The actress was styled in a metallic Giorgio Armani Privé patterned gown. The asymmetrical look featured a black open corseted bodice with an embroidered palm tree design extending across the floor-length skirt. Intentionally or not, the pattern was reminiscent of the palm tree-lined Windsor Boulevard in Los Angeles, where the iconic Hollywood Sign can be spotted. The nod to the American film industry. was fitting on a night when people reunited to celebrate the power of cinema.

Further embracing glamour, Zendaya accessorized the look with gemstones from Bulgari, including pink morganite earrings, a statement bracelet and a ring.

Bobs FTW

As this award season has proven, bobs are back in full force. Zendaya is no stranger to the short hairstyle and owned the look with a retro flair. The style icon brought back old Hollywood waves to cement the overall “effortless glam” effect. The Challengers star also made a case for the Millenial side part, proving she can rock even the most divisive looks.

To keep things simple and chic, Emmy-winning makeup artist, Ernesto Casillas, crafted a minimalist look where the key point was a rosy-toned lip and winged eyeliner.

Celebrating Girlhood: The Definitive Guide to the Coquette Aesthetic https://www.envimedia.co/celebrating-girlhood-the-definitive-guide-to-coquette/ Fri, 08 Mar 2024 13:37:56 +0000 https://www.envimedia.co/?p=62033 EnVi put together a guide to coquette with the help of influencer Kellen-pippa Beckett, fashion creator Isabella Ricci and makeup artist Sky.

The post Celebrating Girlhood: The Definitive Guide to the Coquette Aesthetic appeared first on EnVi Media.

]]>

In 2023, the internet saw an unparalleled rise of hyperfeminine aesthetics. Pop culture moments like the Barbie movie and fashion shows, as well as online beauty trends — hey, cold girl blush and bunny tongue lip gloss! — invited a social media celebration of girlhood. Alongside trends such as Barbiecore, balletcore and regencycore, coquette style gained traction throughout the year, finding support among lovers of bows, frills, and all things feminine.

To help you dive head-first into the realm of the coquette aesthetic, EnVi put together a guide with the help of influencer Kellen-pippa Beckett, fashion creator Isabella Ricci and makeup artist Sky.

The Origins of Coquette

By definition, “coquette” is a French word referring to a flirtatious woman. The term gained traction on Tumblr in the mid-2010s, where it was originally associated with washed-out vintage filters, Lana del Rey, and even Old Hollywood. As the coquette tag grew, however, it developed into an aesthetic that epitomizes the appeal of femininity. While original elements are still entwined in the new presentation of coquette, the aesthetic has evolved in a different direction.

As social media has welcomed a newly ignited celebration of girlhood, many Instagram and TikTok users have turned to the coquette aesthetic as a vessel for self-expression. Creators like Beckett and Ricci have found the opportunity to grow a niche audience by sharing all things pink, frilly, and soft. A common thread between Beckett, Ricci, and many young women online is a shared initial hesitation to embrace stereotypically “girly” things. However, with the rise of social media communities now imbuing each post with a rose-colored touch, the coquette movement has found a place among women who want to express themselves unapologetically.

How to Build a Coquette Closet

The most direct way to adopt the coquette aesthetic is through fashion, where many key elements associated with the style first originated. Perhaps the most obvious is the presence of the color pink, but the shade and the subsequent color pairings matter as well. Coquette pink is not the same as Barbiecore pink or just any pink variation. The interactions with other pieces, the relationship to the wearer, and, perhaps most importantly, the sentiment it evokes, set coquette pink apart. “Coquette differs from Barbiecore because it brings in an aspect of nostalgia,” Ricci explains. And so, when curating a coquette closet, people generally opt for pastel shades of pink, a selection of creams and whites, and other light-toned colors that bring to mind vintage or nostalgic inspirations.

Textures are equally important. In separate conversations over Zoom, Beckett and Ricci list essential fabrics to experiment with, from tulle and ruffles to knitwear. “In the last four months, I’ve seen so many more girls wearing faux fur and lace,” Beckett says, referencing a widespread shift from summer to winter wardrobes and a potential sub-aesthetic trend within the coquette umbrella. These materials, usually associated with the conventional feminine attire of eras past have found a new purpose through coquette looks. Lace detailing can be worked into any item, tulle adds volume to any skirt, and ruffles are often seen in the lining of both hems and cuffs.

Accessories like Beckett’s must-have red heart sunglasses, pearl necklaces, dainty jewelry, headbands, and gloves can also be incorporated into outfits to add a coquette touch. Bows, a coquette essential, have become a widely pervasive accessory worldwide and are incredibly easy to attach to clothing items. For example, a light-wash pair of jeans can be decorated with bows to lean into the coquette style, as can a pair of UGG boots, headphones, or earrings.

Leg warmers, a staple of the balletcore aesthetic, have also found a home in the closets of many coquette lovers. Ricci points out that the coquette aesthetic also welcomes the use of patterns like gingham and florals, as well as fruit motifs — cherries and strawberries seem to be a community favorite.

Beauty in Coquette

Coquette doesn’t stop at clothing. At this point, makeup, skincare, and even lifestyle choices can be considered coquette. Just like clothing, coquette makeup tends to stick to a softer color palette. Beckett, Ricci, and Sky all agree that coquette makeup leans into a natural look, rather than overtly glamorous beauty.

Sky explains that the inner corner shimmer she applies on her eyelids is ubiquitous in any coquette routine. “I feel that [this eyeshadow placement] automatically makes your makeup look more coquette,” she says. Coquette eyeshadow can look like a wash of rose gold, a soft smokey eye with creams and nudes, or a simple shimmery pastel. And, if you want to create a doll-like appearance, Ricci recommends adding white eyeliner to the lower lash line.

On the rest of the face, pink-pigmented products make an unsurprising appearance. Beckett gives her stamp of approval to makeup techniques like the cold girl blush, which is swept across the cheeks and nose to “emulate the flushed look” of someone who was just exposed to cold temperatures. Meanwhile, Ricci suggests fake freckles to achieve a feminine charm.

Coquette makeup also requires a solid pouty lip. A light pink tint or glowing gloss can enhance the natural look of your lips, which Sky lists as a must-do. “It’s not really the blurred lip effect, but a very natural look — not super overlined, just your lips but better,” she explains.

When asked about her go-to products for coquette makeup, Sky recommends a name that seems to embody coquette the best: Flower Knows — a cosmetic brand renowned for its exquisite packaging. Presented in pastel hues and decorated with intricate metallic detailing, Flower Knows’ products seem almost surreal. Beyond their outward look, the products offer sheer but buildable colors, ideal for crafting coquette beauty. Sky also favors products like Dasique, ColourPop, and Fourth Ray Beauty, which offer glossy lip products, soft eyeshadows, and light yet long-standing coverage across all categories.

Be Your Best Coquette Self

Adopting a coquette lifestyle can mean different things depending on who you ask. The coquette aesthetic can extend beyond fashion and beauty, materializing in other areas of daily life. Household staples like hand towels, makeup containers, and jewelry trays come in colors and forms that align with the aesthetic. Additionally, activities like reading, practicing self-care, indulging in “little treats,” and curating soft playlists can be part of a coquette lifestyle.

In fact, Beckett recommends using Lana del Rey’s discography as a coquette-friendly soundtrack. She and Ricci also suggest perusing brands such as My Mum Made It, Favorite Child Collective, Kitteny, For Love and Lemons, and Lace Made to find coquette inspiration and staple items.

What’s at the core of this aesthetic, however, is that by taking on conventionally feminine silhouettes, fabrics, and color palettes, women find an outlet for self-expression. Beyond a mere aesthetic, coquette is a movement that uplifts the practice of traditional femininity. That’s not to say this is the only definition of femininity — rather, it is one of many routes in which women can feel empowered to express their individuality.

Lisa Manobal’s appearance at the Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2024 show left people talking up a storm and we plead guilty too! Deviating from her signature Celine outfits, the “MONEY” singer generated quite a buzz on March 5 when she stepped out in Paris to attend Louis Vuitton’s latest presentation. Lisa slipped into a pair of hot pants and a multi-colored cloak for the front row, pairing the look with equally notable glam — a piecey hime cut and glowy makeup.

Curious about how to achieve the look? Ahead, EnVi unveils the products used in Lisa’s front row glamour.

Smokey Can Be Glowy Too

As one of the world’s biggest style icons, Lisa has crafted a collection of makeup looks that subtly push the boundaries of beauty. For her latest public appearance, the singer sported a look that flawlessly incorporated smokey and glowy elements. Her eyeshadow challenged the preconceptions that smokey pigments can’t be shimmery. When cameras flashed, the sparkles reflected light, bringing attention to Lisa’s eyes. This look was supported by an equally glossy base and lip, as well as a wet piecey hime cut. Yes, this makeup look was one for the books.

The makeup artist behind Lisa’s glowy glam was Woosun of Woosun Hair & Makeup. (Thankfully, Woosun is always one to share her tips and tricks online!) Amidst a busy day in Paris, the celebrity makeup artist took to social media to break down all the products she used to craft Lisa’s makeup.

Smokey Eyes

Lisa’s smokey eyes were executed with just a few steps. Starting the look, Woosun used the Bobbi Brown Dual-Ended Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Pink Steel/Bark. She smudged the shimmery mauve shadow onto the eyelids and into the crease as a base. Then, the dark brown cream shadow gently grazed the lash line for definition. Balancing the eyes, Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Taupe added pigment to the lower lash line. To keep the lashes perky, Woosun used the cult favorite Heroine Make by Kissme Volume & Curl Mascara Advanced Film. Lastly, OLENS French Shine Hazel Contacts brightened Lisa’s eyes with a hazel hue.

Glowy Cheeks

The glowy makeup effect continued with the MAC Glow Play Blush in Blush, Please. Strategically placed, the peach rouge product tinted the cheeks with a glow-from-within appearance. This natural-looking flush bestowed the smokey eyes and sultry ensemble with a youthful aura.

Glossy Lips

Lisa’s lips were tinted with a glossy finish for the front row. Huda Beauty’s Lip Contour 2.0 Automatic Matte Lip Pencil in Honey Beige was blended with a brush for an overlip look. The medium brown pencil created a faux shadow around the artist’s lip line. To finish off the look, a thin layer of MAC Squirt Plumping Gloss Stick in Simulation was painted on the lips. The translucent cocoa gloss meshed with the liner for a natural juicy pout.

As a global superstar, Lisa has the habit of breaking the internet with every campaign, fashion trend, and public appearance. Marking a new era of luxury fashion in her stylebook, her newest beauty look had Lisa running “laps ‘round everyone’s mind.” (And we can’t wait to recreate the chic glam!)

Over the years, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has become a fixture at all Dior events. Her resume with the French house includes Fashion Week appearances, campaigns, and music videos. On February 27, the South Korean powerhouse made yet another appearance at Dior’s Fall Winter 2024 show. For the occasion, she embraced classics with a twist. It wasn’t just her preppy outfit that stood out, her beauty and makeup look also turned heads.

Want to recreate the glam? EnVi breaks down the products you need to achieve Jisoo’s front-row makeup.

Cute Meets Corporate

Combining elements of popular trends such as igari makeup (the beauty look recognized for the rosy-toned flushed cheeks), Jisoo’s makeup transformed her outfit from firm to flirty with just a couple of steps.

Consisting of blushing cheeks, glowing skin and glossy lips, Jisoo’s glam was created by makeup artist Woosun of Woosun Hair & Makeup. The popular celebrity makeup artist is credited for some of Jisoo’s most iconic looks and thankfully, she usually shares her makeup tips and tricks with fans. This time was no different. Woosun took to social media to list all the products she used to create Jisoo’s makeup — and a sneak peek, they’re all from Dior!

Pearl Skin

Jisoo’s beauty routine started with a base of pearl skin. The makeup artist applied the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation to create a hydrated and smooth base. Then, she tapped the Dior Forever Skin Glow Cushion on the cheekbones and forehead for a glossy finish.

Blushing Cheeks

Jisoo’s cheeks were kept fresh, yet impactful. This step was achieved with the help of Dior’s Rouge Blush in Mitzha. To lift the face, the makeup artist brushed the glowy, pink shade just above the apples of the cheeks. This technique created the signature igari mid-face, giving a youthful appearance that perfectly matched the beauty hair — a pair of braided pigtails adorned with bows.

Sweet Eyes

The eye look consisted of pastel pink tones and creamy highlights — hence, the sweet title. The eyeshadow look was crafted with the Diorshow 5 Couleurs palette in Rose Tulle. Creating a soft pink base, Woosun swept the matte pink eyeshadow all over the lids. Then, the eyes gained a subtle definition with the berry brown shade. Intensifying the cuteness, Jisoo’s under-eye area was highlighted with the matte white shade.

Jisoo’s Lips But Better

Glossed lips completed this makeup look. The makeup artist chose the Dior Addict Hydrating Shine Lipstick in Dior Ribbon 463 to achieve a fine effect — Jisoo’s lips but better. The lipstick offered a high-shine finish with just a hint of a rosy tint, highlighting Jisoo’s natural beauty.

As a notable Dior ambassador, Jisoo has embodied the brand’s timeless fashion and elegance for years. Whether she’s just trying a makeup trend or embracing the accessory of the year, the singer always does it with a Parisian chic spirit. Her latest front-row appearance proved that glossy lips and pink eyeshadow can be the perfect match for a suit and tie.

Say goodbye to Barbiecore because Office Siren makeup is officially that girl in 2024. Over the last couple of months, beauty aficionados have swapped ultra-feminine colors for sleek beauty elements associated with Y2K office culture — with a 2024 touch, of course. In no time, the Office Siren look has allured social media gurus as well as global celebrities. The makeup trend is even hitting the luxury fashion circuit. On February 22, K-pop idol, Jeon Somi took a softer iteration of Office Siren beauty to the front row of Prada’s Fall Winter 2024 show.

Fit for Prada’s Office

The Fast Forward singer attended one of Milan Fashion Week’s most anticipated shows with a look fit for the office; Prada’s office that is. The outfit embodied the Office Siren spirit, combining business attire with a modern it girl spin. Somi wore a large, black blazer draped over her shoulders. The oversized jacket served as a little black dress, cinched at the waist with a knotted belt.

For the bottom half of the look, the singer dropped the corporatecore aesthetic. Fastened at the waist, aubergine tassels with silver gauges danced around her legs. The accoutrement added an edge suited for the front row. Ready to go to work, Somi held a Prada Buckle bag in her grasp. As for makeup, the K-pop star accompanied her front-row ensemble with a subtle take on Office Siren beauty.

But First Things First, What’s Office Siren Beauty?

Swapping from one trend to another, the trend cycle in beauty is like a ping-pong match. And this time, the point of debate is feminine makeup. Departing coquette makeup and strawberry makeup, the girls entering their corporate era in 2024 craved a look with less flushed cheeks and frosted eyeshadow. People scoured past decades’ trends and discovered the Office Siren look. Straight from the ‘90s, the look embraces a gray smokey eye, lots of black eyeliner and nude blush.

Balancing office-friendly glam with just one makeup statement, the look often features either cat eye, demure smokey eye or red lips.

Somi’s Office Siren Makeup

Now that you know what the Office Siren look entails, here’s a breakdown of Somi’s glam.

For starters, the artist rocked a divisive hair choice — a side part often associated with the Millenial generation. Despite the polarizing opinions, the side part is making a comeback and Somi is on board. Her pin-straight blonde locks were parted off-center and pinned back towards her ear. For a modern look, the hair was fastened in a swoop just above her temples. This sleek hair look was the perfect front-row replacement for the Office Siren-approved slick bun.

Since Somi released her album XOXO, she has made smokey eyes a part of her beauty repertoire. However, this time her smokey lids appeared more delicate and elevated. The artist’s smokey makeup consisted of smudged warm shadows and a long fishtail liner.

Somi’s Office Siren look started with a gray shadow lightly smoking out the lash line as a base. Then, charcoal and black eyeshadow deepened her outer corners to achieve a siren effect. Something to note is all the eyeshadows were brushed up and out for an elongated eye look. This simple technique transforms traditional smokey eyes with a lifted look.

Like any Office Siren makeup, inner corner definition is a must. Somi’s glam team lined her inner corners and tapped on charcoal gray eyeshadow. Clean yet impactful, this step made the eyes appear closer and the gaze more intense. Finally, thin, winged eyeliner sketched out her eyes for that Office Siren signature definition. As the eyes were the focus, the cheek and lip colors balanced out the eye makeup. Opting for a barely-there look, peachy pink blush and lipstick graced her cheeks and lips.

Once the day turned to night, it was all hands on deck for Danessa Myricks, Sir John, Andrea Wilson and Tamika Gibson backstage at Sergio Hudson’s Fall Winter 2024 show. The whir of blow dryers, tapping of makeup brushes and production assistants yelling “It’s time to go, now!” created a blur of consistent white noise. The plethora of sounds and time constraints could frighten newcomers, but not these beauty industry giants.

Brand owner Danessa Myricks was the makeup sponsor. Celebrity makeup artist Sir John served as the artist for the night, while Andrea Wilson and Tamika Gibson worked their hairstyling magic. Reuniting certified industry changemakers, this dynamic group came up with a look that reimagined runway bombshells. Soft smokey eyes, full lips and thoughtfully placed weaves were pivotal parts of the look.

Ahead of the show, the glam team chatted with EnVi to give us the lowdown on what exactly went down in the beauty chair.

Strong is Sexy

Exuding a mantra of “Money, power, respect!” models strutted down Sergio Hudson’s runway on February 12. The designer’s latest collection, showcased as part of the New York Fashion Week calendar, reexamined what it means to be a strong sexy woman. Garments consisted of pinstripes paired with corsets, patent leather slacks, bodycon dresses and even midi-skirts. A beauty look with nods to ‘80s glamour and ‘90s supermodels accompanied the designs.

Making sure that fashion and beauty were paired in harmony was Sir John’s main focus when conceiving the glam. “It gives me chills to even think about how his collection has penetrated so much of our culture. And so what does that mean? How do we continue to uplift and inspire the women who want to get dressed? They have places to go. Don’t they have places to go and people to see?” he mused.

Strong Makeup Reimagined

Corsetry layered under blazers, pantsuits, leather coats and metallic dresses coexisted on Sergio Hudson’s catwalk. Sir John noticed the collection played with the idea of fluid femininity, which prompted him to rethink traditionally strong makeup styles. For Sir John, it was crucial to embrace strength and softness, which more often than not can be a challenging task — to achieve a makeup look that is deemed strong, sometimes makeup artists sacrifice femininity. “This often happens whenever we think about how we can empower, but it also dials away the softness,” he explained. “How can we as artists or designers still contribute toward the softness that you want to feel every day without making it too dolly or frilly? How can I have the juxtaposition of a little bit of blush, a little bit of a smokey eye, and then stop?”

If you’re wondering too, grab paper and pen and take notes.

A Resilient Base

Danessa Myricks — brand owner and makeup artist with over twenty years in the business and a heart for makeup education — broke down the runway look.
To start off, the resilient base that served as a canvas for the glam was created with the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder. “It’s designed to look like skin. We like to say we use it to blur out the distractions and focus on what’s real,” said Myricks, who formulated the product to be undetectable and offer a matte finish. Blurring skin texture, the balm creates a sweat-proof filter for the skin. As part of the prep process, Sir John also used the Yummy Skin Mattifying Water Powder Serum on the T zone.

Soft Smokey Eyes

To achieve the soft smokey eye, Sir John swapped traditional gray and black tones for a handful of brown shades. He focused on creating a romantic shape and tone for the eyes with the Groundwork: Defining Neutrals Palette. This award-winning palette features pomades and powder shadows for the eyes, lips, and face.

A twenty-pan palette can be intimidating for makeup newcomers, but Myricks created a user-friendly product. “Makeup artists represent less than 1% of the population. Everyone else is trying to figure it out and they want to be able to do those things that they see artists do,” she told EnVi. “So the whole idea of this is building confidence. You cannot mess up with this! It’s the most non-scary texture. It builds slowly. This is the best for someone that is new to makeup or hasn’t really explored a lot and wants to build their confidence.”

Myricks took two years to formulate the multipurpose creamy pomade palette and in no time, it has charmed beauty professionals and enthusiasts with its versatility. “I wanted something that felt like you would have taken a wooden pencil and put it over your lid that’s still dry, but it has a lot of movement,” said Myricks.

Sir John shared his experience creating makeup looks with the award-winning palette. “You can see it on my hand. It gives that base. I love duality. Duality is key. You go from this medium sheer opacity — that happens to be medium coverage — to full coverage. You can do cardio on stage and it’s not going anywhere.”

Flushed Cheeks and Buffed Out Lips

Instead of the classic take on blush, Sir John combined the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed and the Dewy Cheek & Lip Palette to flush the models’ cheeks. Mixing matte and dewy cheek products allowed the blush to pack a punch without overwhelming the sultry aesthetic. Peach and pink shades of blush topped the orbital bone — where highlighter usually goes — while the dewy finish served as a two-for-one, adding shine and color to the skin.

Sir John then grabbed his nearest fluffy blush brush to line up the lips. Yes, a big fluffy brush. Stay with us still. The makeup expert graced the Dewy Cheek & Lip Palette just over the lip line to create a full look. “Whenever you create volume on the cupid’s bow or the center of the lip, it creates visual interest that makes us want to stay there a little bit longer,” he explained. “Now it’s overdrawn, but not overdone.”

As a last step, Sir John topped off the blush with the Blooming Romance Palette, an unreleased Danessa Myricks product that will hit the market soon.

Always one step forward in the beauty game, Sir John also offered a master tip on how — or rather where — to apply blush for a sexy and feminine look: on the décolletage! “Bring blush into the chest to look sexy — [to] look like you came in from the slopes.” Noted!

Reviving Bouncy Curls & Blowouts

Big bouncy curls were alive and thriving at Sergio Hudson thanks to Andrea Wilson and Tamika Gibson. The duo birthed a new take on the bombshell blowout with voluminous curls and swooping curtain bangs.

“Everybody is wearing a wig,” explained Gibson. Such an occurrence is rarely seen on Ready-to-Wear runways, but the beauty team wanted to use hair as part of the storytelling. The wigs also allowed them to play around with sandy and caramel hues without dyeing the models’ hair.
As a multi-cultural hair expert, Wilson effortlessly crafted a voluminous ‘90s blowout with just a few steps and products such as the Kenra Root Lifting Spray, Volume Spray, and Mouse. Wilson described her technique as “old school.” “We’re blowing drying the product into the hair and giving it a big two-inch curler set to give it that smooth polished finish that the blow dryer doesn’t always give. And we just blend it out, run your fingers through it. When she’s walking, it should be like bounce, bounce, bounce!”

Uplifting Each Other

Exemplifying what is like to collaborate with people who have nothing but respect and support for one another, Danessa Myricks, Sir John, Andrea Wilson, and Tamika Gibson made a dream team at Sergio Hudson’s FW24 show.

“It’s Black History Month and I’m proud of Danessa,” Sir John said about Myricks’ work and how it empowers people. “She does so much as an artist to make us feel connected to not only what you guys use as consumers, but what we can do with our hands. It’s about looking up to women who lift all of us up!”

The admiration goes both ways. Myricks — dressed in a Sergio Hudson fit — gushed, “I’ve probably almost fainted at least ten times. It’s an honor to be partnering with Sir John. I’m obsessed with him and just how he looks at beauty, how he looks at skin. This is like my best day ever.”

Idiosyncratic, daring and eclectic, London Fashion Week (LFW) stands out from its international counterparts with novel design proposals and an irreverent identity. On the runways, this attitude not only renders audacious fashion but also brings unconventional beauty under the limelight. Subcultures, throwbacks to the past and an unorthodox approach to what’s trending merged at the event’s Fall Winter 2024 edition.

Considering London’s reputation as a hub of young emerging designers, it was only fitting that brands embraced bold statements. At Yuhan Wang, models sported large pompadours — part 18th-century royal, part punk — adorned with ribbons and lace. Meanwhile, Dilara Findikgolu combined undone textured hair with leather belt ornaments that went hand in hand with her collection’s theme.

But not everything was about boldness and unabashed rebellion. Erdem and Dreaming Eli embraced hairnets in romantic, retro-inspired hairdos, while Conner Ives relied on the classic elastic headband to craft Y2K-infused looks that paired perfectly with the frosted eyeshadow that every model sported as a nod to the early aughts.

Graphic liner in all shapes and forms played a supporting role on the runways. Framed by Victorian hairstyles, flower motifs floated above models’ eyes at Simone Rocha. At Chet Lo, vertical metallic lines took shape on models’ faces. Aaron Esh also tested the trend, matching monochromatic garments with inky black liner to achieve a nearly gothic aesthetic.

Peach fuzz blush was spotted on the catwalks of Masha Papova and Dilara Findikgolu. But this was not a traditional approach to the Pantone color of the year. The youthful shade received a London Fashion Week treatment reminiscent of the drunk blush or igari look — blush tapped right under the eyes and blended into the eyeshadow. Showcasing its versatility, the warm blush was paired with romantic hair bows as well as grunge accessories.

Multiple runway shows proved the side-part may be here to stay in 2024. On the runways, brands like Aaron Esh and Eudon Choi displayed tousled, lived-in iterations of what is also known as the Millenial hair part. Keeping the 2000s theme alive, hairstylists side-parted and swooped locks for optimum drama.

And let’s not forget about the Intricate hair braiding speckled across the catwalks. Chet Lo’s minimalist beauty was accompanied by raised cornrows. On the other hand, LABRUM presented a more complex take on braiding with tight pigtail braids.
