Buoyed by charismatic presences and an all-embracing discography, K-pop group CIX has risen as a force to be reckoned with in the music scene. The five-member act debuted in 2019 and has since delighted fans with a slew of successful music releases. To match their musical evolution, Bae Jinyoung, Yonghee, BX, Hyunsuk, and Seunghun have delivered elevated style moments throughout their career. Off-stage, however, the members get candid about their style preferences.

The experimental nature of their jobs often requires CIX to jump from one trend to another and frequently change their fashion and beauty. However, Jinyoung, Yonghee, BX, Hyunsuk, and Seunghun — just like any other person — also have a list of foundational pieces in their closets and vanities. The Vision 

Nailing a wide range of styling concepts, the members of CIX are in no way strangers to fashion experimentation. Their debut single, “Movie Star,” saw the quintet flaunt trendy cut-out pieces, sleek suits, and color-blocked looks. In the music video for the electro-infused single “458,” which gives a nod to the Ferrari 458 Italia, Bae Jinyoung, Yonghee, BX, Hyunsuk, and Seunghun are aptly dressed in racer-inspired outfits. Meanwhile, their latest title track, “Save me, Kill me,” is accompanied by poignant lyrics and school uniforms (for story plot purposes). Despite crafting such a diverse style book, there are still unexplored fashion territories for the group to discover. We asked them, “If you could be your group’s stylist for a day, what concept would you like CIX to try?”

Since their debut in 2020, Starship Entertainment’s nonet, CRAVITY, stands out as a rising force in the K-pop industry. Seamlessly transitioning from funky anthems such as “Adrenaline” to bossa-nova-infused tracks like “GO GO,” CRAVITY’s versatility knows no bounds. In tandem with this music evolution, the group’s fashion star has been steadily ascending. When ALLEN, HYEONGJUN, JUNGMO, MINHEE, SEONGMIN, SERIM, TAEYOUNG, WONJIN, and WOOBIN met Team EnVi for their cover shoot, they absolutely proved their sartorial chops. Naturally, we couldn’t miss out on the chance to ask one or two style questions.

In the third installment of our Style Guide series, EnVi’s cover stars, CRAVITY, exclusively share their must-have items, go-to look for the summer, style icons, and more. 

The Style

Barely two years into its career, CRAVITY has already explored a wide range of fashion concepts. For their debut “Break all the Rules,” the nine members were introduced in effortlessly cool full-black ensembles accentuated by scarce pops of color. In “Cloud 9,” the group favored “cute for the summer,” dressed in a variety of pastel-colored, preppy looks. “My Turn” saw CRAVITY shifting to racer-core, and more recently, the group taught a few lessons on how to do varsity-style in the adrenaline-fueling “Adrenaline.” It is off-stage, however, that the group gets “real” about their fashion preferences. In the world of K-pop, singing and dancing flawlessly comes nowhere close to singing and dancing flawlessly, while sporting fashionable looks. The members of rookie group bugAboo—Choyeon, Eunchae, Rainie, Yoona, Cyan, and Zin—know a lot about that. However, since these ladies are still relatively new public figures, many of us are still curious about their own spin on off-duty style. We took our questions to the sources themselves and asked the ladies of A team Entertainment’s group about their fashion preferences, essentials, and more! The Style 

While bugAboo has been around only for a few months—the group debuted on October 2021—the members have already proven to be adroit in the art of dressing. If not clad in cool school-inspired outfits on their music videos, the girls are rocking their own wardrobe on social media. How do they describe their personal style in three words? 

“Achromatic colors, aura, and comfortable are words that describe my style the most. Although achromatic colors might be boring, I think it’s important to look at the aura those colors give, and I love comfortable clothes.”

“Street, comfy, and chameleonic. I like street fashion the most! So even if I’m just [in] training wear, I will try to make it look as cool as possible.”

“Girlfriend look, innocent, and chic. These are my three favorite styles! For summer, I like to wear crop tops that show off the waistline or a bright, colorful, neatly printed dress! My favorites for fall and winter are knitwear, cardigans, black jackets, that allow me to change my style following the latest trends.”

“Special, unique, and elegant. I love glamorous and sparkly styles! I like to stand out and not look like other people.”

“I like to define my style as ‘cool, fascinating, and extraordinary.’ It’s because I usually like to wear outstanding clothes, to make sure people will have their eyes on me.”

“I will define my style with sporty, comfy, and palette. I enjoy exercise, so I usually wear comfortable sportswear. Also, I like to add colors to my daily clothes as a key point, that’s why I express it as palette.”

The Most Powerful Piece 

If you’re not familiar with the term, a bugaboo is basically “an imaginary object of fear, something that causes distress.” In this time and era, there is possibly no stronger statement of power than introducing ourselves through our fears. This is exactly what bugAboo did with their self-titled debut song and the subsequent press promotions. In more than one interview, the members of the girl group opened up about their own bugaboos. For instance, back in October, in an EnVi exclusive, leader Choyeon explained the meaning behind the group’s name. “bugAboo has a concept of six typical girls meeting a new world and overcoming their traumas,” she said. For a group with such empowering message, what pieces in their closet make them feel most powerful?

“I feel more confident when I am wearing clothes that can show off my body shape well. My favorite outfit combination is a crop top with wide pants or jogger pants. This gives me the most confidence.”

“I always try to dress up nicely, but I am more confident when I’m wearing accessories. Cap, shoes, bags, and sunglasses help me boost my confidence!”

“I think I feel most confident when I am wearing a crop tee with jeans or a skirt. Clothes that show off the waistline make me look great when taking pictures, that’s my favorite look.”

“For me, it’s rings and necklaces. I usually pick meaningful ones, so I think they are worth investing in.”

“Items like caps and shoes! I like to collect items, so I would collect caps of different colors, shoes from different brands and types, as well as glasses of colors. I am still collecting them now, and I wish to have my own dress room in the future, with spaces to exhibit my collections!”

“I usually like accessories or hairbands so I wish to own all different styles of accessories, especially those sparkly types.”

Rightfully, as the six-member act not only delivers empowering anthems but also lends its voice to champion good causes. In an exclusive interview with EnVi, members E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha, and Yiren shared tidbits of a Style Guide worth taking notes from. The Style

From their debut with the 2019 banger “Bon Bon Chocolat,” EVERGLOW has nailed the girl crush concept time after time. Dazzling in statement jewelry and a mix of preppy, edgy, and glam, the young women introduced themselves as the girl group to look forward to. Along with the subsequent killer tunes such as “Adios” and “Pirate,” their style file has continuously evolved. EVERGLOW’s chameleonic virtues might allow the members to flawlessly transform onstage, but each of the girls flaunts a distinctive personal style. How do they sum it up in three words?

It is common knowledge that the girls of EVERGLOW stand out for their powerful concepts. The matching styling, fitting of an equally powerful girl group, ranges from couture dresses to more experimental pieces. But beyond their stage wardrobe, what is the piece in their closet that makes them feel the most powerful?

“[Rather than a piece] I feel the best when I’ve just bought new clothes. It’s fun looking at my closet after I’ve done a lot of shopping.”

“I have a [shoulder-padded] jacket that raises my shoulders up to the maximum, and when I go out wearing it, I feel the most powerful!”
—Sihyeon

“Actually, tracksuits occupy more than half of my closet, and I think tracksuits are also my powerful clothes! This is because training suits can be worn by anyone regardless of gender, and there are no restrictions on any activity! Since I dance a lot, it’s cool to match the tracksuit style according to the dance and sometimes this can even look pretty.”

“There’s a red tweed knit cardigan in my closet! Since the color is red, I think I feel powerful when I wear it! And red is my lucky color, so I think it gives me more energy.”

“I like black clothes for a go-to look, so I enjoy wearing them. I think I like clothes that are more hip (trendy) than casual.“

“This answer to this question is also a tracksuit (laughs) If not sweatpants, I often wear casual jeans and cropped T-shirts.”

“Earrings!”

“A jacket. The mood [of the outfit] varies depending on the jacket, so if you have a variety of pretty jackets, you can make a new great look every day.”
—Sihyeon

“I think it’s earrings! There’s a saying that you look three times more beautiful when wearing earrings, and I think it’s worth investing in because the person’s vibe can change depending on whether they are wearing earrings or not!”
—Onda

“Well, I like glasses and necklaces! I’m the type that likes to wear glasses or necklaces depending on my mood. And more than anything, glasses can cover my face when I’m bloated or not wearing any makeup!” (laughs)

“It’s outerwear because they’re warm, pretty, point pieces. They’re practical and pretty.”
—Aisha

“Hats or shoes! I recommend them because if you have multiple hats and shoes you can create a completely different atmosphere even while wearing the same look!”
